A podcast is like a blog -- only you don't only put text online, but also audio files. To access these files
you can either go directly to a podcast website, or you can use a free service like
podcasts.yahoo.com to be notified whenever one of your favourite
podcasts is updated.
The audio files are mp3 files, which you can paste not just on your iPod, but also to any other MP3 player. Or you can
burn them onto a CD. This way, you can listen to podcasts where-ever and whenever you like: at home, in your car, on the
train, in the bus, when you're going for a walk, while doing sports -- the possibilities are endless! And what's more: the
topics covered by podcasts are endless, too! Just check out one of the many podcast directories (start with the one offered
by yahoo, if you like).
A lot of podcasts are done non-professionals: people might talk about their lives, about a topic they're interested in;
they might offer language courses or independent music. But by now, many radio stations also offer their most popular shows
as podcasts.

An author reading in your own sitting room or in your car? Talking softly into your ear while you're out jogging or sitting
in the bus or train? Impossible, you think? No more, because this is what Sandy's Podchatter is all about!
While doing readings in the USA, Canada or Australia is a bit difficult for me, I still wanted to do something special
for my readers -- and thus the idea for Sandy's Podchatter was born. On my podcast, I read from my published and unpublished
works, talk about background research, ramble on about the glittering (haha!) life of an author, and introduce my favourite
books and authors. When possible, I'll also do interviews with other writers as well as special reports about events like
the Booklovers Conference in Wiesbaden.
At least once month I will upload a new episode, unless I'm doing a serial reading: then there'll be a new episode once
a week. New episodes are typically uploaded on Saturdays.
