The Diary of Doom & Disaster: Writing BEWITCHED

Interrupting a work in progress for months on end, or trying to write the bulk of a book in six weeks is never a good idea. Even worse is mixing the two things! However, it does result in entertaining blog posts (the more panicky the author, the more entertaining her blog posts)! In the following you can find out how I used a Mucha painting for inspiration; what CALVIN & HOBBES have to do with my novel; how to research distances, travel times, the exact dates of the winter solstices in 1817-20, and other exotic topics; how I battled writer's block by writing my colleagues at university into the novel; why nude marbles don't necessarily make good jokes; and how this author slowly, but surely descended into madness in March 2007. Read all about the nerve-wrecking (mine, not anybody elses) (everybody else probably laughed their heads off!) countdown on deadline day! The drama! The excitement! The horror! The horror! The horror! -- Enjoy! :)
